    It covers common project management phases and demonstrate the concept of project management in project selection, initiation, planning activities and project closure activities for ICT projects.

  • 2 - Introduction to Planning
    It covers the importance of planning, approaches and strategies can be adopted to prepare a good plan.

    1. Describe the importance of planning and the benefits of planning to the IT projects.
    2. Discuss approaches to planning and strategies that can be adopted in order to prepare a good plan.
    3. Discuss mistakes in planning that should be avoided
  • 3 - Project Scope, Requirements and Stakeholders
    It describes project planning activities covering the process of planning scope management and methods for collecting and documenting requirements to meet stakeholder needs and expectations. It also covers how to accurately forecast project costs, timelines and quality.

    2. Discuss methods for collecting and documenting requirements to meet stakeholder needs and expectations.

  • 4 - Planning Breakdown Structure
    It covers the process of creating a work breakdown structure, cost breakdown structure and also discusses human resource planning.

    Topic Outcomes

    1. Explain the importance of validating scope and how it relates to defining and controlling scope.
    2. Discuss the process for creating a work breakdown structure (WBS) using the top-down and bottom-up approaches.
    3. Explain the purpose of cost breakdown structure in project planning.
    4. Discuss human resource planning and be able to create a project organisational chart and responsibility assignment matrix based on the created WBS
  • 5 - Scheduling
    This topic describes the process of scheduling, monitoring and control and explaining various tools and techniques should be used by the project manager in order to perform activity duration estimates.

    This topic describes the process of planning cost management and discusses different cost estimates and methods for preparing them.

    3. Understand the processes of determining a budget for an information technology (IT) project.

This course is intended for Managers as well as members of IT projects from the field of business, operations, engineering, technical support and consulting, who need to acquire a high competency in IT project management, project control and documentation tools and processes. The course content is compliant with international project management standards.
